5. Now for the Master Bedroom and Closet.
- You are going for the roomy relaxing look.
- Neutral colors so men and women will find it appealing. No pink or yellows, or bright flowered wallpaper. (Sorry, but it doesn’t sell)
- Update window coverings with neutral colored materials. Home Depot and Loews have great readymade window treatments and attractive looking rods, for not too expensive. Remember, from the front of the house, don’t want to see colored drapes, make sure there is white lining.
- Bedspread should be clean and neutral colors, with assorted throw pillows to cozy it up.
- If no head board, hang group of pictures, nothing too weird as it should appeal to all.
- Make sure lamps are in working order, and have them on.
- Clean floors and baseboards. If carpet is gross, consider replacing with new and neutral, or add an area rug over the old carpet.
- Closets are very important. Clean them out. Fold items neatly on shelves. Only leave enough clothes in closet so seems roomy. Put shirts together, suits together, etc.
- Purchase a rack for shoes if you don’t have one. Either on floor or a hanging bag for shoes.
- Closet floor should be mostly empty.
- Only leave a few decorative items on dresser. Put in storage any valuable jewelry, as people often open drawers, and you don’t want them to be tempted.
