6. Master Bathroom

 

  • Clean off counter, leave only decorative item such as vase of flowers, candle, few folded towels in basket, soap pump. Hide the toothbrush and nasty looking water glass. Absolutely no medicine bottles visible.
  • Put new towels on towel rack.
  • Clean out linen closet. Put away all those old bottles of medicine, refold towels on shelves.
  • Make sure shower or tub is sparkling clean. Replace any old caulk, clean grout. Can call Grout Doctor for an estimate. Consider having old tub resurfaced. Adding a new shower curtain is great.
  • Clean out under sink.
  • If need storage area, add a little cabinet or shelf.
  • Add a new throw rug if appropriate.
  • Remove any old wall paper and paint walls a neutral color.
  • Look at your faucets, if they are dated or icky as in gold and peeling, replace them.
  • Consider replacing light fixture with an updated look.
  • Clean mirrors, empty wastebaskets.
  • Make sure toilet flushes properly, prospective buyers will check it. Consider replacing toilet seat.
  • Clean or replace exhaust fan/heater. You will have to at inspection anyway if it isn’t working properly.
  • Your Realtor should have some names of companies to do fix-it jobs.
