Why is Interior Design and Staging a Home So Crucial for Selling?

Although staging does not always necessarily involve an interior designer, there are some benefits of hiring an interior designer before selling a home. From presale to post-sale, a good relationship between the realtor and the interior designer is a win-win situation for both parties. With the touches of an interior designer, homes are proven to sell much faster and at top prices. In addition to this, the interior designer’s client can carry ideas of the color schemes, spatial planning or even remodeling of their current home into their future home. After the sale has been made, the client already has formed a working relationship with a designer and can seamlessly transition into their new “home”. This is the key component to ensuring repeat business with past clients and in getting new referrals, all leading to further future sales for both the designer and the realtor.

The Importance of Staging a Home:
Realtors know that they will be able to sell a house faster and at a higher price if the house is well staged. The business of home staging is very demanding, especially in today’s economy because there are so many homes that are still not selling on the market even at low prices. It is essential for realtors to make the houses they are intending to sell stand out from the competition. One way to start making houses appealing to your clients is the place where most homebuyers look first, the internet. Staged homes are also much more attractive on realtors’ websites, advertisements and other sales materials.
Realtors and/or home sellers need to keep in mind that the buyer only knows what they can see. The main goal is for the buyer to walk into a home and immediately feel at home and imagine him or herself living there. Staging a home to a large pool of people with a lot of different tastes in design can often times be difficult. Homebuyers can easily be unsatisfied by items in the house that have nothing to do with them. Staging a home involves decorating a home in a way that creates a wide spectrum of buyer’s appeal and gives the buyers a sense of the home being their own. Although the buyer has already expressed interest in the house before seeing it in person, it is the seller’s job to make sure that the buyer comes out of the house liking what they saw. It has been proven that home staging is one of the most profitable and effective tool in the Real Estate Industry for selling houses.
